Bring on the snow.
Winterfest, the Olympic Peninsula’s annual kickoff to the winter sports season, is set for 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles.
Enjoy a prime rib dinner prepared by Next Door Gastropub, live and silent auctions, live music by Bill and Rudy, and a series of short films featuring local skiers and snowboarders ripping it up at Hurricane Ridge.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m. Following the auctions, the event screens top films from the VideOlympics, a local film festival/contest held in Port Angeles. This year’s films include “A Day at the Ridge” by Jack McColl of Sequim, “March Archives” by Bobby Stevenson, “Overthrow” by Chris Earl, “Max Poops” by Tim Stanford and “Homeland” by The Z Boys.
Proceeds from Winterfest supports winter sports education at Hurricane Ridge. Contributions are tax deductible and proceeds support capital improvements to the ski area, as well as scholarships to underprivileged children in the community who would like to learn how to ski, snowboard or participate on ski team.
Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Children 12 years of age and younger are $25. A table for eight is $360, a $5-per-person savings. Community tables are reserved with the group’s name displayed.
Get individual tickets at Brian’s Sporting Goods in Sequim, Swain’s General Store, Necessities &Temptations and Brown’s Outdoor.
