For the Olympic Avalanche’s Canadian opponents, not so good.

The Olympic Peninsula-based girls select squad ran roughshod through four north-of-the-border opponents in the eighth-grade division at the Island Shootout in Victoria, B.C., for the squad’s fifth tourney championship of the season and the players’ final action until the 2009-2010 campaign begins next fall.

"This is an amazing group of girls whose futures in basketball should be very bright," head coach Joe Marvelle said. "I was honored to coach them all."

The Avalanche went 4-0 at the tourney, beating opponents by an average of more than 55 points.

The Avalanche opened with a 74-22 thrashing of South Vancouver Island Basketball Academy. Krista Johnson led the charge with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Mariah Frazier added 20 points 10 rebounds. Alexas Besand also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
