Baseball: East JeffCo edges Sequim on diamond

The match-up was much closer this time, with Sequim’s foes from the east coming out on top.

East Jefferson avenged a season-opening 12-run loss with a 9-8 win in Sequim on April 12, despite Sequim pitchers holding their club to just five hits.

The Wolves (1-5) racked up eight hits, including a big day from Connor Bear who went 4-for-4. Toppy Robideau had a hit and two RBIs, while Michael Grubb and Ayden Holland scored two runs apiece.

Robideau, Jaxson Gray and Zach McCracken combined to give up just three earned runs over seven innings for Sequim.

The Wolves opened the season with a 13-1 win over East Jefferson on March 24.

Spartans rout Wolves

Sequim was limited to two hits in a 14-1 loss on April 6 to the powerful class 3A Bainbridge Spartans, a team with three NCAA Division I commits.

McCracken drove in Sequim’s run with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.

UCLA pitching commit J.R. Ritchie went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs to lead Bainbridge at the plate.
