Beuke, Officer splash to sixth place at Seattle regatta

Elise Beuke of Sequim and Aubree Officer of Port Angeles placed sixth in an 11-competitor field in the Women’s Junior open double division at the Head of the Lake Regatta in Seattle on Nov. 2.

Beuke and Officer completed the 4,800-meter course (about three miles) in 23:27.04.

Willa Jeffers and Savannah Inglin of Olympia took top honors at 22:35.08.

Hosted by Lake Washington Rowing Club and the University of Washington, this regatta started on Lake Union, continued east in the shadow of Husky Stadium, through the Montlake Cut, to Lake Washington and finished near the UW’s Conibear Shellhouse. It is the largest fall regatta on the West Coast. This year saw 447 entries and participation by 76 rowing clubs from Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, Virginia, Rhode Island and British Columbia.

Rat Island Rowing and Sculling Club of Port Townsend had seven entries with 33 participants.
