Intermediate rider Jericho Stuntz of Port Angeles celebrates a first-place state championship after successful racing at USA BMX finals in Richland on Aug. 24. Fourteen riders with Port Angeles BMX competed at the finals, held at the Columbia Basin BMX Track. While Stuntz was the only local rider to take first, several riders also brought home state plates (top 10) in their respective ages and levels. They include: Taylor Coleman, Cash Coleman, Tee-Jay Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Taylee Rome, Greg Faris, Sebastian Buhrer, Joseph Pinell, Zach Pinell and Landon Price. Striders do not receive state plate, but Makaylie Albin brought home a second place finish for the day. BMX is a year-round sport. “It is never to late to start racing,” said Geri Thompson of Port Angeles BMX, as a membership, she notes, ends a year from when one purchases it. PABMX races through the first weekend of October. For more information, call Thompson at 461-9103. Submitted photo
