Bowling: Wolves rack up six wins, eye postseason

With a number of matches cancelled thanks to wintry weather, Sequim High’s bowling team ended on a high with a win over Bremerton on Jan. 11, finishing the regular season at 6-4.

The mark is tied for the most wins for a Sequim bowling team since the 2009-2010 season (6-9) and the best winning percentage since SHS’s 2004-05 team (8-1)

The Wolves play at the Olympic League tourney on Thursday, Jan. 20, in Silverdale.

Pacing Sequim are seniors Madison McKeown and Gabby Mattern-Hall, sporting averages of 154 and 134, respectively. Freshman Nikoline Updike is third on the team with a 116 game average, followed by sophomore Morgan Kayser (112), senior Morgan Tate (108) and junior Tilly Lundstrom (102).

Top teams and individuals advance to the West Central District tournament on Saturday, Jan. 29, in Parkland. The state tourney is scheduled for Feb. 3-5 in Tacoma; 1A and 2A schools compete on Friday, Feb. 4.
