Boys basketball: Green, Moore spur Wolves’ first league win

A strong second half helped Sequim’s boys basketball squad shrug off a five-game losing streak and pick up its first league win of the season on Dec. 16.

The Wolves (1-4 in Olympic League, 2-5 overall) got 15 points each from Keenan Green and Isaiah Moore in the 61-50 victory over the visiting North Mason Bulldogs.

Green hit a trio of 3-pointers in a key fourth quarter (and five overall) that saw Sequim turn a 41-37 lead into an 11-point victory.

Jayden Possin added three free throws in the fourth to seal the win.

Pryce Glasser and Tyler Mooney had eight points each and Possin chipped in seven.

Andrew Littrean led North Mason with 20 points, 14 of those in the second half.

Vikings dominate

This just in: North Kitsap is pretty good.

The reigning (2019-2020) state 2A champs showed their offensive prowess in Sequim last week with a 87-40 win over the Wolves on Dec. 14.

The Vikings, who came in undefeated in five games with an average point differential of +38, jumped out to a 31-9 lead after one quarter and led by 31 points (49-18) at halftime.

Aiden Olmstead led North Kitsap with 26 points while Jonas La Tour, last season’s league MVP, added 20 points.

Isaiah Moore led Sequim with 13 points. Zack Thompson had 11 and Keenan Green chipped in nine points on three 3-pointers.

Looking ahead

Sequim has a pause in action for winter break through Jan. 4, when the Wolves play at Klahowya.

The Wolves host Olympic on Jan. 6 and play at Kingston on Jan. 8.
