Boys Basketball: Sequim looks to share league championship

The Sequim boys basketball team took care of business in a 77-47 take down of North Kitsap in Poulsbo on Friday that set up a clash with Bremerton on Monday for a share of the Olympic League championship.

The championship-deciding game was played after press deadline on Monday so look for an update online. It was rescheduled from Feb. 6 due to inclement weather.

Bremerton (12-1, 14-4) earned a share of the title Friday night when the Knights beat Port Angeles 67-39, but a Wolves (11-2, 16-2) win Monday would split the two-game series between the teams. The Knights beat Sequim 78-60 in Bremerton on Jan. 14.

For Sequim’s big win on Friday, seniors led the way.

Sequim’s Ethan Melnick led all scorers with 25 points, sinking five second-half treys.

“Ethan Melnick and Zeke Schamdeke played great,” coach Craig Brooks said.

Jericho Julmist added 17 for the Wolves while Solomon Sheppard scored 12 and Jamison Gray had 10 to help pace the Wolves.
