The scoreboard showed North Kitsap on the winning side, but Sequim coach Craig Brooks liked the way his Wolves played in a home loss to the Olympic League powerhouse Vikings on Dec. 19.
“I like the way we competed,” Brooks said following the 82-60 defeat.
Isaiah Moore, in just his second game back from a preseason injury, paced the Wolves (1-3 in Olympic League, 2-4 overall) with 23 points, including 15 in the second half.
The Vikings (4-0 in league, 5-1 overall) jumped to leads of 22-14 after one quarter, 48-29 by halftime and 70-38 after three quarters before the Wolves outscored their visitors 22-12 in the fourth frame, despite NK playing several starters until the final couple of minutes..
“That matters — the way you play when you’re down; I hope we made a lot of growth,” Brooks said.
“[In the fourth quarter] we started to play the way we can play,” he said. “And we started getting back on defense.”
Zach Thompson had 15 points and Charlie Grider, despite battling foul trouble, added 10 points.
Brooks praised Grider for being “very active” in the league match-up.
Keenan Green added six points on a pair of triples.
Harry Davies led the Vikings with 24 points and Cade Orness added 19 points.
The Vikings placed third at the state 2A tournament in 2021-22.
