Boys basketball: Wolves knock off Buccaneers

 

A big second half Monday night helped Sequim’s boys basketball squad rebound from a tough loss.

Gabe Carter and Andrew Shimer scored 15 points each and the Wolves (2-1 in league play, 2-2 overall) edged the Kingston Buccaneers 53-47 in Sequim on Dec. 10.

Carter added seven points and four assists, both team-highs.

Kingston led 15-12 after one quarter but the Wolves outscored the Bucs in each of the next three quarters.

Sequim’s Jayson Brocklesby added seven points and two steals.

Hans Schippers led Kingston with 19 points, 16 in the first half, and KT Deam had 13 points.

The Wolves are at North Mason on Dec. 12 and host Klahowya on Dec. 14.

Trojans trump Wolves in Silverdale

The Wolves have the preseason poll, but the Trojans have the first battle.

Olympic’s Quentin Phillips scored 15 points and Brian Tyson added nine as the host Olympic squad downed league preseason favorite Sequim 49-46 in Silverdale on Dec. 4.

Carter led Sequim with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Rory Kallappa added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Olympic held a one-point advantage at halftime (24-23) before jumping out to a 41-33 lead after three quarters and held Sequim off in the end.

 

The Trojans forced 22 Sequim turnovers.
