The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula’s 4-person golf scramble fundraiser, held May 10 at The Cedars at Dungeness, has met or bettered its $30,000 goal, according to preliminary counts.

7 Cedars Casino sponsored the tournament, along with gold sponsors Sound Community Bank and Ameriprise Financial. Thirty businesses stepped up to sponsor the tee signs, rounding out over $18,000 in sponsorship support. Olympic Ambulance sponsored lunch; First Federal and Price Ford sponsored hole-in-one prizes.

Jim Jones had the best drive on hole No. 8 and his closest-to-the-pin shot (2 feet, 6 inches) sent him home the winner of a used vehicle courtesy of Price Ford.

Out on the course the golfers saw chances to give to the Boys & Girls Clubs in various ways. While warming up they putted to win wine, bought 50/50 tickets and socialized with the large turnout of teams and individuals.

They bought “throws” and “mulligans,” ways of paying to jump ahead and shave a few strokes off their scores; paid $5 to have a Sequim High School Women’s Golf team member drive on hole No. 7 and gave extra for the Sasquatch hole.
