On their spring break, Sequim’s Wolves played host once again to their visitors from the north.
Freshman Ryan Tolberd scored three goals as a mixed varsity-junior varsity Sequim squad played to a 3-3 draw with a team from Ketchikan, Alaska, on April 6.
Tolberd scored in the fourth minute on an assist from varsity starter Josiah Urquia. He scored his second goal in the seventh minute by following up on his own deflection off a Ketchikan defender for an unassisted goal.
Ketchikan scored in the ninth minute and the game settled down to a 2-1 score at the half, then knotted the game at 44 minutes. Tolberd got his third goal in the 65th minute on an assist from Robert Beeson before Ketchikan evened it up at 72 minutes.
“We had some good scoring chances (at the end), but we just couldn’t finish,” Sequim assistant coach Ken Garling said. “It was a fun game; they’re a good team.”
Ketchikan also played Port Townsend last week, earning a 1-0 win against the Redhawks on April 7.
Sequim (2-3, 3-3-2) was slated to jump back into Olympic League action April 11 when they host Bremerton. The Wolves are at Olympic on April 14 and at Klahowya on April 19 before their next home game, an April 21 match versus North Mason.
