Two of Sequim’s fastest players also have a knack for finding the net.

Sequim needed both to finish off its rivals from Belfair. Mitch McHugh staked Sequim to a 1-0 first half lead with a score off a Mason Barrett assist and Waylon Lam added the game-winner with just two minutes remaining to give Sequim a 2-1 win against North Mason on April 10.

The Wolves had chances to put the Bulldogs away on their home turf but needed Lam’s goal after North Mason’s Colin Ralston, the Olympic League’s top scorer, tied it at the 72-minute mark.

Kendall Perlwitz slipped a through ball for Lam who knocked it in for the goal, his second of the campaign.

The victory helped Sequim rebound from a 3-0 loss to league leader Bremerton on March 30.

“I thought we did a nice job coming back,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.

Sequim (1-1-0 in Olympic League play, 3-5-2 overall) dropped a non-league contest on Saturday, falling to Tyee at home, 3-1.

“We were a little lethargic,” Brasher said. “They were a good possession team; we didn’t handle that too well.”

Byron Boots had the lone score for Sequim, a penalty-kick score late after Chris Venegas was taken down in the penalty box.

Tyee out-shot Sequim, 15-10.

“Defensively we were probably a step slow in the first half,” Brasher said.

The Wolves were scheduled to play at Port Angeles on April 17.

Sequim hosts Klahowya on April 19 and are at Port Townsend on April 24.
