Sequim’s Wolves got the 2017 season off on a good note with a 7-0 sweep of North Mason’s Bulldogs in Sequim on Sept. 7.
Sequim singles No. 1 player Raymond Lam topped Bulldog Gus Sandquist 6-2, 6-4, while Liam Payne won in straight sets over Zach Gamblin, 6-2 and 6-0. In No. 3 singles play, Jonathan Heintz swept Julian Betancourt 6-1, 6-0.
In No. 1 doubles play, Sequim aces Blake Wiker and Thomas Hughes didn’t lose a point in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Blake Heagle and Jacob Stark.
Tim Porter and Damon Little also won handily in No. 2 doubles action, winning 6-0, 6-1 against North Mason’s Levi Handyside and Blake Manke.
North Mason managed to get a game in No. 3 doubles play, but Sequim’s Brenton Barnes and Kevin Meyer still wound up with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Jeff Smethers and Jaran Stone.
Sequim’s Liam Braaten and Aaron Jackson completed the sweep, topping Emmit Bryzgoria and Ryan Crookshank 6-4, 6-3.

The Wolves (1-0) were slated to host Coupeville on Sept. 11 — results were unavailable at press time.
Sequim plays the first of four consecutive away matches with a road date at Bremerton on Sept. 13, followed by matches at Kingston on Sept. 15, Port Angeles on Sept. 18 and Klahowya on Sept. 20. The Wolves host Chimacum on Sept. 21.
