Brocklesby, Carter make all-league first team

Atop the Olympic League standings, the difference between co-champions Sequim and Olympic was paper thin.

In the postseason honors? Not so much.

The Olympic Trojans of Silverdale swept the league’s three major awards, including MVP (Quentin Phillips), Coach of the Year (Devin Huff) and Team Sportsmanship.

Sequim seniors Jayson Brocklesby and Gabe Carter were named to the all-league first team while teammate Anthony Pinza, a junior, was named an all-league honorable mention.

Carter led the Wolves in rebounds (7.5 per game), assists (6.6), steals (2.7) and blocks (1.3), and was second with 11.6 points per contest.

Brocklesby averaged a league-leading 21.5 points per game and was second on the team in 3-pointers made, steals and rebounds.

Pinza scored five points per game, led the team in free throw percentage and was second on the squad with 2.5 assists per game.

Phillips was second in the league in scoring at 19.2 points per game and in steals with 3.1 per game.

On the girls’ side, Olympic’s Ashli Payne was named MVP after leading the league in scoring (18.7) and pulling down nearly 11 rebounds per game.

Sequim’s Alexas Besand was named an all-league honorable mention. Port Angeles’ Madison Hinrichs and Macy Walker were named all-league first teamers.
