Calling all fishermen

Starting April 26-27, fisherman extraordinaire Ron Link will teach you all you need to know about "Fishing for Steelhead."

 

Link has been a recreational fishing instructor with Peninsula College since 1999 and also has been a licensed fishing guide and commercial fisherman.

 

The two-day steelhead class includes three hours of classroom instruction from 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 26, and a field trip from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

 

The class meets at the Sequim Education Center on the corner of Spruce Street and Sequim Avenue.

Students need to provide their own transportation and fishing gear.

 

Cost for the course is $85.

 

Link also will be teaching three other fishing courses, including "Fly-Fishing" on May 2-8, "River Fishing" on May 10-11 and "Fishing the Peninsula," June 7-8.

 

"Fly-Fishing" meet Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. starting May 2 in Room 222 at the Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles, and concludes Saturday, May 18, with a field trip from 1-3 p.m. Link teaches the basics of fly-fishing and helps you become acquainted with the fisheries, tackle used and techniques that apply. No equipment is necessary, but students must provide their own transportation. Cost is $93.50.

Tour the fishable waters of the Sol Duc River in a two-day "River Fishing" class May 10-11. Link covers fisheries availability and the techniques that apply. The class meets in Room 222 at the Lincoln Center from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 10, with a field trip from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $85. Students must provide their own transportation.

 

"Fishing the Peninsula" is an ideal fishing course to help you become familiar with the region and the variety of fishing opportunities available. The class is offered from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 7, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Friday’s classroom instruction is held at the Sequim Education Center on the corner of Spruce Street and Sequim Avenue. Students need to provide their own transportation for the Saturday field trip. Cost is $76.50.
