CDWGA group grows in 2017

A busy golf season for The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association continues in September.

The CDWGA hosts the annual “The Days of Whine and Roses” Invitational Golf Tournament, set for Sept. 11-12 at The Cedars, 1965 Woodcock Road. Organizers anticipate a field of 60 two-woman teams.

The season started in March with only enough members to fill two groups but now boasts as many as six groups on a regular Tuesday play days. New members to the club include Ann Flack, Madison Morris, Emily Cook, Victoria Cantelow, Sarah Shea, Cynthia Carpine, Yoon Park, Kris Slack, Janet Littlefield and Hysek Haglin.

In addition to a growing membership, the group added several events including the “Freeze Your T’s” tournament (snowed out), the “Burn Your Tee’s” event on July 8, and the inaugural Member/Member event in May that organizers called a “resounding success.”

CDWGA members also support Washington Public Links, Washington State Golf Association and Teams of the Peninsula, representing The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association in various tournaments on the Olympic Peninsula and as far away as Lake Chelan, Wenatchee, Longview and Moses Lake.

“It is a great chance for us to meet other golfers, compete at other courses and see more of our state,” Bonney Benson said.

CDWGA meets Tuesdays at 8 a.m. from March to the end of October. For more about joining this group, call The Cedars at Dungeness pro shop at 360-683-6344, ext. 1.
