The squad bringing the top young baseball talent on the Olympic Peninsula together is gearing up for 2018.
The 2018 Olympic CrossCutters select travel team hosts tryouts from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave. Participants are asked to show up 15 minutes prior to tryouts in order to register and to bring gear (bat, helmet and glove).
The team is open to players of ages 12-15 and will play up to 10 tournaments next summer (June-September 2018), with most tourneys in Western Washington.
The team’s offseason program includes training at 360 Sports Performance Training, clinics with baseball professionals and practice at Carrie Blake Park’s fields beginning in November.
Player fees are estimated at about $1,000; fees will be finalized once teams are established.
“We coach with the fundamentals of the game as our foundation, the importance of sportsmanship and the goal of personal growth, hard work and success,” CrossCutters coaches say.
