A rainout spoiled the tournament format but not the results for the Olympic Crosscutters 18U baseball squad, as they went 4-0 at the Banker’s Invite in Silverdale June 24-26.
In the tourney opener, the Crosscutters squad got a solid all-around effort from its lineup in a 9-5 win over North Kitsap on June 24.
Anthony Bitegeko, Andy Johnston and Lane Dotson had two hits each while Bitegeko and Rweha Munyagi had two RBIs apiece.
Dotson went the distance on the mound, striking out seven and giving up just three hits.
In the second game, big second and third innings carried the Crosscutters to a 14-6 win in five innings against Elma on June 25.
Munyagi had three hits, Juston Porter drove in three runs and Ben Bruner and Gavin Velarde had two RBIs each in the victory.
Velarde picked up six strikeouts in three-and-a-third innings pitched.
The Crosscutters scored four runs in the second frame and another six runs in the third inning to blow the game open.
Later on June 25, Porter had two hits and two RBIs, Dane Bradow struck out five batters in six innings and the Crosscutters held off Burlington-Edison, 6-3.
In the tourney finale on June 26, Lane Dotson and Velarde had two hits, Cole Dotson worked five strong innings with six strikeouts, and the Crosscutters broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth inning to top tourney host Olympic, 5-1.
