Drive for the Cure to benefit OMC Foundation, locals

Sunland Golf & Country Club members are once again turning their passion for the sport into support for locals battling cancer.

The club hosts its 2019 Drive for the Cure golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The tourney benefits the Olympic Medical Center Foundation’s effort to provide breast screening and diagnostic services or men and women on the Olympic Peninsula. All donations and profits from the fundraiser are given to the Olympic Medical Center Foundation to aid local residents.

Last year, a record $14,800 was donated to the foundation. This year, Sunland Women’s Golf Association hopes to top that amount. A Sunland resident and golf club member will match funds raised one-to-three up to last years total and one-to-one on anything over.

Tourney details

For non-Sunland members tourney nine-hole cost is $50, or $65 for 18 holes. Fee pays for green fees, lunch, on-course prizes, a mulligan and more. Carts are $10 per set for nine holes, $16 per seat for 18 holes. Luncheon tickets for those not golfing are $20.

Fryer Insurance Agency is sponsoring four prizes for hole-in-one shots (one for each of the par 3 holes), including $10,000, a set of Calloway irons, two round-trip domestic airline tickets and a large flat screen TV.
