The 3A Bainbridge Spartans played rude hosts in a 45-17 decision over Sequim on Sept. 14.
Sequim struck first with a couple of passes to put them into the red zone and a few plays later found the end zone to make it 7-0.
The Spartans responded with 21 unanswered points before Sequim found paydirt again with a 65-yard screen pass on the first play of its next drive to cut the lead to 21-14.
Spartan running back Garrett Goade scored his second rushing touchdown of the day to make it 28-14. Sequim responded with a Jack Henninger 40-yard field goal, but Bainbridge shut down SHS’s offense the rest of the way and tacked on 17 points, including Goade’s third rushing TD.
Sequim (0-1 in Olympic League, 0-2 overall) meets rival Port Angeles at home on Friday, Sept. 22; game time is 7 p.m.
Last season, in one of the more exciting games in Rainshadow Rumble history, Sequim quarterback Lars Wiker hit Toppy Robideau with a 15-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds left in the game to beat the Roughriders 36-32.
The Wolves follow their rivalry with a Sept. 29 league game at Kingston, and an Oct. 6 away date at Olympic.
Sequim hosts North Mason on Oct. 13.
