Golf: Julmist punches ticket to state tournament

One Wolf is headed to state and another six have another shot following the Olympic League championships on May 8 in Bremerton.

Jelissa Julmist shot a 105 to place fifth at the league final, and earned a berth at the 2A tourney set for May 23-24 at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake.

Sequim teammates Emily Post (110), Ava Johnson (112) and Isabella Williams (113) earned spots in the West Central/Sea-King District Tournament that was scheduled for May 16 at The Cedars at Dungeness; results were not available at press time.

On the boys’ side, Zack Thompson (86), Carter Cronin (89) and Cole Smithson (90) were just outside the league’s top seven finishers, but also qualified for districts at The Cedars on May 16. The 2A boys state tourney is set for May 23-24 at Liberty Lake Golf Course.

Sequim’s Lars Wiker (99), Cody Dunscomb (104) and Kyle Sharpe (112) also competed at the league tourney.

Port Angeles sophomore Phoenix Flores shot a round of 7-over-par 78 to claim the Olympic League boys’ golf title, held at Kitsap Golf & Country Club.

The Port Angeles girls golf team earned three of the top six spots for state berths, led by Piper Williams.
