Golf: Sequim boys stay undefeated, top Port Angeles

Showing little rust from the Spring Break layoff, Sequim’s boys golf squad came away with a solid win over their cross-peninsula rivals, topping Port Angeles 169-182 at the Riders’ home course at Peninsula Golf Club on April 15.

The cold weather-day win — it snowed on the way to the match, noted SHS head coach Sean O’Mera — helped improve Sequim’s season marks to 2-0 in league play, 6-0 overall.

Match medalist Dominic Riccobene had a mixed day but got up and down from off the green three other times during his round, O’Mera said, and finished with a round of 39, three over par.

One shot back was teammate Ben Sweet, whose round included a birdie on the fifth hole. Pryce Glasser was third with a 43.

“He hit some good shots, but overall, he didn’t have his best either,” O’Mera said. “In typical Pryce fashion, he still found a way to smile all the way around the course.”

Port Angeles’ Edun Baily (44) and Nate Anderson (45) posted the fourth- and fifth-best scores of the day.

Rounding out Sequim’s scores were Cole Smithson (47), Zack Thompson (56) and Lars Wiker (59).

Scores for the Sequim-Port Angeles girls match were not available at press time.

Coming up

Sequim hosts Bainbridge on April 21 and plays at North Kitsap on April 28.

The Wolves host their final home match May 2 against Olympic, and finish the regular season on May 12 at North Mason.
