Golf: Wolves earn sweep on links

Sequim’s boys and girls golf teams treated Lakeland Village Golf Course in Allyn like it was their own, sweeping their Olympic League match with North Mason on April 18.

On the girls’ side, Sequim topped North Mason 210-246 and Olympic 210-254 in a double dual match, improving to 5-3 on the season.

Ava Johnson paced Sequim with a 50, followed by Emily Post (51), Jelissa Julmist (52) and Sara German (57). Mari Morris took medalist for North Mason with 49, while Bailey Winderl shot 55 to lead Olympic.

Sequim’s boys had their third different match medalist of the year in Zack Thompson, who fired a career low 37 to help SHS top the Bulldogs by 43 shots, 183-226, and improve to 3-4.

Playing in the lead group for the first time in his career, Thompson made one birdie, two bogeys and a bunch of pars.

“Zack works so hard on his game; it is really fun to see him reap the rewards of consistent effort, great attitude, and pure determination,” Sequim coach Sean O’Mera said.

Freshman Cody Dunscomb fired a 47, while teammate Kyle Sharpe fired a 49 — well under his season average.

“Kyle is still a relative new-comer to the game, so it is really fun to see him continue to improve and get better,” O’Mera said.

Lars Wiker rounded out the scoring for Sequim with a 50.Carter Cronin carded a 53 and Joey Kang, playing his first ever varsity match, shot a 58.

Owen Oblizalo paced North Mason with a score of 51.
