Gymnastics: Wolves place 24th at state finals

Sequim High’s three state qualifying gymnasts capped their seasons at the 1A/2A/3A prep finals in Sammamish last week, as the Wolves garnered 46.725 points in the team and individual all-around events to place 24th overall on Feb. 23.

Competing in three events, junior Susannah Sharp placed 33rd on the vault with 8.525 points, 41st on the floor exercise with 8.775 points and a 78th place finish on the bars with 6.400 points.

Her 23.700 points was good for 74th in all-around points.

SHS senior Kori Miller tied for 52nd on the bars (6.95 points) and tied for 64th on the vault (8.225). She placed 101st overall.

Sequim freshman Lucy Spelker tied for 88th on the vault with 7.850 points, and was placed 121st.

With 179.575 team points, Sammamish took top honors, with Mead in second and Lake Washington in third. Representing the Olympic League, Bainbridge placed fifth and North Kitsap was seventh.

Sammamish also had the top two all-around scorers, Seema Borgmann and Micah Laughary.
