Hastings takes gold, locals earn silvers at indoor pickleball tourney

Local pickleball players came home with some hardware at the International Indoor Pickleball Championship, held March 26-31 in Centralia.

Sequim’s Doug Hastings earned a gold medal after winning the Senior Open Men’s division, going 3-0 before edging Peter Brix in a four-set final.

Hastings also teamed with Tony Tollenaar to take third place in the Men’s Doubles Senior category, going 3-2 overall.

Damon Little won gold in the Men’s Single Skills Age 3.0/3.5 19+(3.0) category, then earned silvers with two doubles partners. He teamed with Sequim’s McKenna Hastings to take runner-up honors Mixed Skill Doubles 4.0 division by winning seven of nine matches, then joined brother Garrett to earn second place in the Men’s Skill Doubles 3.5 division after the pair went 6-2.

Kalli Wiker and Garrett Little added a second-place finish in the Mixed Skill Doubles 3.5 division, finishing 5-2.
