Klahhane gymnasts open season with success

The Klahhane Gymnastics Teams opened their competitive season with a strong showing at the National Judges Cup at the Tacoma Convention and Trade Center, Jan. 10-12.

 

In “Xcel Competition” results, the Klahhane Silver Division team captured the first-place team trophy with the Gold Division team bringing home a second-place trophy.

 

In the All-Around competition, the Xcel team had three first-place winners: Ellie Turner in the Bronze Division, Elizabeth Sweet in the Silver Division Senior Age Group and Emerson Wright in the Silver Division Junior Age Group.

 

Also making the top three in all-around competition were Amber Dietzman (second) and Lily Robertson (third) in Bronze Division; Aiesha Mathis (second) Silver Division Junior Age Group, Christina Lewis (third) Gold Division Senior Age Group and Cassii Middlestead (third) Platinum Division Junior Age Group.

 

Also competing in the Xcel meet were Maizie Tucker and Emily Silva in the Silver Division, Sydney Miner, Cassidy Tamburro, Karlie Gochnour and Enissa Albin in the Gold Division and Danica Miller in the Platinum Division.

 

The next competition for the Xcel teams is the Aloha Invitational at Seattle Pacific University on Feb. 9.

Junior Olympics results:

 

In Level 3 competition, Susannah Sharp and Morgan Mattix led the Klahhane Gymnastics team with identical all-around scores of 33.725.

 

Both brought home second-place medals on vault. Also competing for the fourth place Klahhane Team were Kori Miller, Lainy Vig and Jolene Vaara.

 

In Level 4 competition, the Klahhane team of Zoe Smithson, Emma Sharp, Anne Edwards and Gracie Sharp brought home a third-place trophy.

 

Smithson led the team with a 33.8 All-Around score and earned a first place medal on uneven bars, scoring 8.85 points.
