Klahhane Gymnastics’ Level 4 gymnasts competed in the Fairytale Classic at Crystals Gymnastics in Puyallup Feb. 9, placing third in team scoring.
In the individual competition, Ashlynn Uvila placed fourth all-around in the 9-year-olds age group, scoring 35.75 points. Clarissa Preston was seventh with a score of 35.15. Reilly Reid was seventh in the 10-year-olds age group, scoring 35.00 points while Vanessa Martinez scored 34.30 for eighth in the 12-and- older age group.
Also competing and receiving sectional qualifying scores were Adare McMinn (33.75 points), Cami Ortloff (30.10), Lillian Oden (32.75), Nikki Price (32.10) and Maya Wharton (33.95).
In the Level 5 competition, Brooke Parsinen received a sectional qualifying mark of 31.05. Also competing in level 5 were Ashlynn Amick (29.50 points) and Katyn Flores (30.20).
Klahhane’s Madylan Coventon and Ashley Westrem competed in the Palouse Empire Invitational in Moscow, Idaho, Feb. 9.
Coventon took top honors in the Level 6, 12-and-older competition with an all-around score of 34.975 while Westrem placed ninth with 33.10 points. In individual events, Coventon also took first on the balance beam (9.25 points), second on uneven bars (8.50) and sixth on vault (9.125). Westrem took fourth on vault (9.30 points) and fifth on uneven bars (8.10).
The team competed in the George Lewis Aloha Invitational at Seattle Pacific University on Feb. 23-24.
The Level 4 team placed third among the 14 participating teams with a team score of 108.60 points.
In the 11-and-older age group, Martinez took first in all-around scoring 36.75 points. Martinez also received the George Lewis Inspirational Award for the highest Level 4 all-around score.
Wharton also claimed a first-place trophy, hers coming in the 8-year-olds competition, by scoring 35.30 points, followed by McMinn in third (32.2) and Natalie Steinman in fourth ( 32.0).
In the 9-year-olds age
group, Uvila took third with 35.30 points, followed by Preston in 16th with 33.65. Reid took 11th for 10-year-olds, scoring 34.0 points.
In Level 5 competition Lexi Hefton and Amick earned sectional qualifying scores of 32.70 and 32.15 respectively.
In Level 6 competition, Emily Giammalva took third on balance beam (8.50), fourth on uneven bars (8.325), fifth on floor exercise (8.65) and sixth for all-around points (33.375).
