Peninsula College hoops stars Samantha Flett and Chidi Antoinne can’t get enough of this game.

The two are both headed to Oregon universities after posting outstanding seasons for the Pirates in 2008-2009.

Flett, who led the Peninsula Pirates to their best-ever finish at the NWAACC Basketball Championships this spring, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play her junior and senior years at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.

A 5-foot 6-inch combo guard from Wellpinit, Flett led the Pirates in scoring (15.9 points per game), steals (3.2), assists (3.8) and was among the leaders in the NWAACC in each of those categories.

"We are excited about the addition of Samantha to our program," said Mountaineer coach Anji Weissenfluh. "Sam will be a major impact player for us. She is a proven scorer, great defender, strong rebounder and will fit in well with our up-tempo style of play.

"Sam has two years of college experience under her belt, which will prove to be very valuable. We are very fortunate to get an outstanding student athlete like Sam."

Antoinne has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Western Oregon University men’s basketball team for its 2009-2010 season. WOU is in Monmouth.

The 6-foot 5-inch power forward averaged 7.7 points and 7.6 rebounds to go along with almost one block and one steal per contest for the Pirates.

He played his high school ball at St. Austin’s Academy in Nairobi,

Kenya.

"Chidi is an extremely athletic forward who will be exciting for Western Oregon fans to watch," said Craig Stanger, Western Oregon’s head coach. "With his athletic ability, he gives us an immediate defensive and rebounding presence. He is a quality young man that will fit in well with our program and will be a treat to watch. We are excited he chose Western Oregon."
