Alex Barry, Bailey Earley and Jackson Oliver led SHS’s boys to a 78-31 romp over the Redhawks in Sequim while Jordan Miller, Adrienne Haggerty and the rest of the Lady Wolves mastered their counterparts in Port Townsend with ease, 61-24.

In the boys’ matchup, Sequim (1-0 in league, 4-1 overall) used full-court pressure to dominate the young Redhawks squad into numerous turnovers for a 19-10 lead at the end of one quarter and a 46-21 lead by halftime.

Barry led all scorers with 21 points, Earley added 13 on six-of-seven shooting and Oliver sank a pair of 3-pointers and finished with eight. Barry had a double-double with his 13 rebounds — 10 on the offensive glass — and added a team-high six steals.

Vance Willis chipped in with five assists and six rebounds. Dusty Bates, Josh McConnaughey and Payton Glasser combined for 21 points on nine-of-10 shooting.

Overall, Sequim shot 34-of-63 (54 percent) from the field.

Chris Adkins led Port Townsend (0-0, 0-4) with 16 points.

Sequim is at Kingston tonight, Dec. 17, and hosts Olympic on Friday, Dec. 19, in a key early-season Olympic League showdown.

Girls rip Redhawks

On the girls’ side, Sequim jumped out to a five-point lead after one quarter before using a 20-3 run in the second to take control of the game by halftime. Miller scored 14 points, sinking a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter.

Haggerty scored eight of her 13 points in the second period. Alyse Armstrong and Hailey Lester added seven points each for the Lady Wolves (1-0 in league, 3-2 overall).

Kaitlyn Meek and Shenoa Snyder scored six points each to lead the Redhawks (0-0, 0-4).

Sequim’s girls host Kingston tonight, Dec. 17, and play at Olympic on Friday, Dec. 19, before hosting Anacortes Saturday, Dec. 20.
