Registrations are underway for the 2016 youth Tennis Academy and Tennis Tournament sponsored by the Sequim’s Community Junior Tennis Program.

The five-day tennis academy starts at 9 a.m. July 18 on the Sequim High School tennis courts.

Sessions will last from 9 a.m.-noon each day and will consist of physical conditioning, tennis-related lectures and tennis instruction and drills.

Junior players 18 and younger are invited to participate.

Attendance will be limited, so early registration is encouraged. T-shirts, snacks and water will be provided.

The program will be overseen by a United States Professional Tennis Association-certified professional.

In a separate event, an annual Juniors’ Tennis Tournament starts on July 25 (times to be announced), open to all players ages 18 and younger, on the SHS courts.

Divisions will be by age and gender for 18-and-Under (18U), 16U, 14U, 12U, 10U, 8U and 6U.

Trophies are awarded to the top three in each division.

Thanks to supporters of area youth tennis, no fees are anticipated for either event.
