Salmon derby fundraiser dinner, auction set

The Gardiner Salmon Derby Association is hosting a “Taste of Italy,” a fundraising evening with food and live music.

The event is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road.

Gardiner resident Trevor Hanson will play classical guitar music.

The evening features both live and silent auctions. Auction items include a fishing charter for four ($800 value); a week at Eagle Crest Condominiums in Bend, Ore., for up to six ($1,300 value); various lots of wine; four tickets to a Sounders game at Qwest Field and more.

Auction winners must make payment at the auction via cash or check (no credit cards or holds).

This special fundraising event kicks off the 2011 salmon derby season. The season’s highlight is the big February 2011 fishing event – the Olympic Peninsula Salmon Derby – held on Presidents Day Weekend.
