Senior softball: Greywolves, Raiders rekindle diamond rivalry

A pandemic postponed this cross-border competition … but it didn’t stop these teams from rekindling their good-natured rivalry.

The Sequim Greywolves and the Victoria (B.C.) Raiders, senior softball teams, were back on the softball diamond at Carrie Blake Community Park on July 8 and 9, with a weekend full of friendly competition and a banquet/barbecue.

The softball “rivalry” kicked off in 2012 but was interrupted for a couple of years by the COVID-19 pandemic. It continues in 2023 with a series of games in Victoria, B.C., later this summer.

Locals David Underwood, David Unruh and other helped coordinate the weekend’s festivities.
