Sequim girls fall in season finale

Sequim’s girls soccer squad saw their season come to an end last week in Belfair with a 4-1 loss to North Mason on Oct. 30.

Senior Sunma Agostine scored her team-leading sixth goal, the only score of the second half, but it wasn’t nearly enough to tackle the Olympic League champion Bulldogs.

Sequim (1-10-1) saw four different North Mason players score in a 16-minute span in the first half.

"We played well (but) again, we were down a couple of subs," Sequim coach Enid Halewyn said.

The Wolves were hoping for a little of the same magic they got in last year’s season finale – a 5-0 win at Port Townsend – when they traveled to Port Townsend two days earlier, but it wasn’t meant to be: the Redskins shut out Sequim 2-0. Khloe Frank scored in the 55th minute and assisted an Emilina Berkshire score with three minutes left in the game in the penultimate league contest.

The Wolves finish the 2008 season with one league win (Oct. 7 vs. Bremerton, 3-2), one nonleague win (Sept. 9 at home versus Forks, 14-0) and two ties (Sept. 25 vs. Port Townsend and Sept. 16 vs. Port Angeles, both 1-1).
