Sequim golf tourney nets more than $4K for hospice group

The Cedars at Dungeness’ Lady Niners golf group saw teams battle for top honors, but the big winner in their recent tournament was Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

The Lady Niners held its annual Memorial Tournament on May 18, raising more than $4,000 for the all-volunteer hospice group.

In the 45-golfer modified scramble tourney, the team of Dot Forshee, Witta Priester, Sue Mobley and Kathy Benedict came out on top with a score of 25.4. Taking second with a score of 25.8 were Bobbie Piety, Jan Prout, Betty Kettel and Kitty Gross. Third-place winners with a score of 26.4 were Lisa Ballantyne, Lani Warren, Darla Shaw and Lindsay Busch.

Other contest winners included Olympia Brehm (most accurate drive), Jill Palmquist (longest drive in low division), Cassie Docking (longest drive in high division), and KPs to Docking and Barb Burrows.

The memorial tourney has been held for the past eight years to honor the group’s past teammates and support Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. Hospice administrator Betty Wood was this year’s guest speaker.

The group thanks tourney sponsors and golfers who donated to VHOCC.
