As a senior, Sequim’s Chad Quinet has designs on studying turf management at Walla Walla Community College in the fall.

The Wolves, however, are more interested in how he and his teammates manage the turf this spring.

Sequim’s duffers managed it just fine in a boys’ and girls’ team sweep at The Cedars at Dungeness on April 16.

The boys (3-1) topped Kingston 106-84 while the girls (3-0) scored a 91-74 win against the Buccaneers.

Colby Rude earned medalist honors with a round of 77 and 31 Stableford points, followed by Ryan O’Mera with an 81 (27 points) and Quinet, the hopeful greenskeeper and four-year letterman, with a round of 85, good for 23 points.

Sean Lindstedt added a round of 90 for 18 points.

Dalton Eckler led Kingston with a round of 80 and 18 Stableford points.

On the girls’ side, Sequim junior Zoei Zbaraschuk dominated once again for medalist honors, shooting a 35 for 36 Stableford points, 14 shots ahead of the next-best golfer. Teammates Kim Duce (49, 22 points), Lisa Doan (55, 16 points) and Hailey Estes (61, 10 points) helped build an insurmountable lead.

Hayley Welch (49, 22 points) led the Bucs.

The win helped Sequim’s girls improve to 2-0 for the week after a hard-fought, 93-89 win against Port Angles at SunLand Golf & Country Club on April 14.

Zbaraschuk led the pack with 31 Stableford points, followed by Duce (21), Doan (19) and Ashley Morton (11).

Emily Cook (26 points) and Lauren Covinton (22) led the Roughrider charge.

Sequim’s golf teams have busy weeks ahead. After both squads take on Port Townsend on April 21, the boys play at the Higgins Invite in Bremerton on April 23 and the Port Ludlow Invite on April 28 before rejoining the girls as they host North Mason April 30.

The girls play at Port Angeles on April 24, at Burlington-Edison on April 27 and host Olympic April 28 before the April 30 North Mason match.
