As the weather turns for the better, Wolves tennis players should continue their great play on the court following some early rain-outs.

Through four meets, Sequim remains undefeated on the season, 4-0, and in the Olympic League, 2-0.

Last week the Wolves overcame Port Angeles on March 25, winning five of seven matches, and followed that up with two 7-0 set sweeps of North Mason on March 26 and Klahowya on March 27.

Senior Hillary Smith leads the singles players with a solid week, winning in two sets against North Mason’s Jennifer Hicks (6-2, 6-4) and Katie Gallegos of Klahowya (7-5, 6-2).

Anna Prorok saw an early defeat in three sets against Port Angeles’ Callie Peet (6-3, 4-6, 11-9).

She shot back to win a doubles match with Melanie Guan against North Mason and in singles against Danielle Frederick (Klahowya) (6-4, 2-6, 6-3).

The Wolves’ No. 3 singles player, Hannah Gauthun, rebounded too from an early week defeat to Kyrie Rayus (Port Angeles) to hold her North Mason opponent scoreless and defeat Shania Rose of Klahowya 6-1 in two sets.

In doubles matches, Sequim’s top duo, Karen Chan and Guan, won two matches together.

They held off Klahowya’s Kelsey Dammeyer and Sidney Winters 6-1 in two sets and the Roughriders’ Bradi McFarlin and Krissy Marvelle 6-0 and 6-1. Chan also won her singles match against North Mason.

Sequim’s Maggie Christie and Heidi Stallman won three doubles matches convincingly all in two sets.

Duo Anna Mittman and Kortney Oen also won three matches, as did Courtney Cassal, playing with teammates Andrea Tjemsland (twice) and Tenisha Powless.

The girls next visit North Kitsap on Monday, April 8.
