​Storm King soccer wins again; soccer referees needed; Sea Hawkers to meet; SkyRidge hosts tourney

​Storm King soccer wins again, tops Kent United

It was another complete team win as the Storm King Lightning boys soccer squad remained alone atop the BU11 North Puget Sound League standings after beating Kent United 8-2 on Nov. 8 in Sequim. The Lightning improved to 9-0-1 with the victory.

Seven of the eight goals for the Lightning were assisted as they spread the ball around efficiently. Leading the Lightning in scoring was Israel Gonzalez with five goals, Harrison Bell with a goal and four assists, Kobe Applegate and Kristian Mingoy with a goal each, Ethan Knight with two assists and Brandon Wagner with an assist from his sweeper spot.

The Lighting are in Shoreline to take on Seattle United West at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15.


Soccer referees needed

Sequim Junior Soccer will be having a new referee certification class for all youths and adults who are interested in becoming a referee for SJS during the upcoming spring soccer season.

Pre-registration and completion of online class material is required. Class will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at The Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St. in Sequim. Go to www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com for more information.


Sea Hawkers to meet

The local Olympic Peninsula Sea Hawkers club now has more than 110 members including members from Forks, Neah Bay and Clallam Bay. The group has changed the day and location for its next meeting. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Traylor’s Restaurant in Port Angeles.

The club also is going to begin alternating its meetings between Port Angeles and Sequim every other month beginning in January. For more information, call 457-1392.


SkyRidge hosts tourney

SkyRidge Golf Course hosts a Post Turkey Day two-person scramble and better ball tournament, set for a 9:30 a.m. start on Friday, Nov. 28, at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

Format is a front nine scramble and better ball on the back nine holes. Men play from the green tees, women from the purple tees.

Cost is $60 per team with a $20 per team honey pot. Fee pays for gross and net prizes, KPs and lunch after play. Carts are $15 per seat.
