SkyRidge Spring Opener is Saturday, Softball league to start, Hegel sinks first ace, more

SkyRidge Spring Opener is Saturday

SkyRidge Golf Course hosts its Spring Opener, a two-person scramble, on Saturday, April 5.

Play starts at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. There are two divisions (gross and net).

Cost is $60 per team, with a $20 optional honey pot. Carts are $15 per seat.

Fee includes range balls, KPs and lunch after play.

Softball league to start

The Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department is registering men’s and women’s teams for adult slowpitch softball Leagues. The league is scheduled to start the week of April 28 with a kickoff tournament set for April 25-27.

Team fees must be paid by April 18 to be included in the kickoff tournament.

Team packets are available at the Parks and Recreation office or by calling Dan Estes at 417-4557, or e-mail destes@cityofpa.us.

Individual players can also sign up and get put on the “free agent” list. Team sponsor fee is $525 along with an individual player fee.

Hegel sinks first ace

Monet Hegel of Port Angeles sank ace No. 1 at The Cedars at Dungeness on March 14. Hegel used a 9-iron to drive the 132-yard hole No. 8 at The Cedars. John Rudder of Port Angeles witnessed the feat.

B&G clubs host annual golf tourney

The 23rd Golf Tournament and FUNdraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula is scheduled for Friday, May 9, at Sunland Golf & Country Club.

Format is a four-person scramble. Cost is $100 per golfer. Hole-in-one prizes are provided by First Federal and Price Ford, and the lunch sponsor is Olympic Ambulance. Sponsors include 7 Cedars Casino, Ameriprise Financial-Len Lewicki and Sound Community Bank.

Pirate golf tourney on tap

Peninsula College supporters have the opportunity to fund scholarships and play golf at the Pirate Athletic Association Golf Tournament, set for Friday, May 23, at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course.

The tournament format is a scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. It features prizes for low gross, low net, long drive, closest to the pin, as well as draw prizes. It also will feature lunch on the course, a meal after the round and a brief prize ceremony.

The tournament offers opportunities for business owners to be hole sponsors, and to enter teams. Sponsor packages start at $250.

Entry fee for individual golfers is $100.

Junior soccer camp set

This summer, Sequim Junior Soccer Club again teams up with UK Elite Soccer to provide players and coaches for a UK Elite Soccer Camp and School, Aug. 11-15. The camp for players ages 5-8 and 8-14 is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon. Cost is $140. The camp for ages 3-5 is scheduled for 12:15-1:30 p.m. daily, with the cost $100.
