Seahawks plan gathering, Sequim golfer gets first ace, Sunland to host tournament/benefit

Club president Dami Rodriguez and the Olympic Peninsula Sea Hawkers host a 2014 season opener kick-off rally from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Asian Buffet, 1940 E. First St., Suite 160, Port Angeles.

Fans are encouraged to wear Seahawks gear and celebrate the start of the season with food, music and raffles/prizes. The event is child-friendly, with coloring, costume contests and raffles for the youngsters.

First ace

Larry Peltier of Sequim sank his first lifetime hole-in-one, earning the feat on Aug. 17 at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course.

Peltier used a 5-iron to drive the 139-yard hole No. 11.

Sunland to host golf tourney, benefit

Sunland Women’s Golf Association and Sunland Lady Niners are joining together to host their annual fund- raising event, “Drive for the Cure” Golf Tournament and Luncheon on Sept. 25.

Shotgun time for the 18-hole competition is 9 a.m. and the nine-hole game will shotgun at 11 a.m. Cost for Sunland members is $16; cost for non-members is $36 for 18 holes and $26 for nine holes; both fees include lunch.

Lunch-only tickets are $12.
