Equestrian team hosts meeting for new riders

The Sequim Equestrian Team is hosting a meeting for new, incoming riders at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Sept. 24, at the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

Sequim High School students, plus those who are either homeschooled or attend Sequim Community School, are eligible. For more information, call Terri Winters, team coach, at 452-7716 or 460-5400.

Golf tourney benefits SHS extracurriculars

SkyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) is hosting a new fundraising golf tournament for the Sequim High School extracurricular activities fund.

The event, set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 27, is a four-person scramble, with handicaps optional.

Cost is $50 per person, $200 per team; fee includes the golf, range balls, KPs, a salmon meal and a donation to Sequim’s Associated Student Body extracurricular activities fund.

Little League meeting rescheduled for Sept. 28

Sequim Little League officials host a meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, in the upstairs clubhouse at James Standard Fields, 136 W. Silberhorn Road.

The agenda includes discussion of adding new board positions such as T-ball coordinator, plus discussion about getting more help for field maintenance.

Coed volleyball

registration opens

Team registration packets for the 2008-2009 adult coed volleyball fall/winter season are available now at the city of Port Angeles Parks & Recreation District.

Age restrictions are high school-aged players (not involved in a fall, winter or spring sport) and older. The season begins in October.

Cost is $150 for sponsor fee plus $20 per player living in Port Angeles, $25 for those living outside Port Angeles. Individual players can sign up and be put on a "free agent" list.

Games are played at Stevens Middle School, 1139 W. 14th St., Port Angeles.

U-16 fastpitch team holds tryouts at college

The Impact U16 girls fastpitch team hosts tryouts at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Peninsula College ballfield, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Players born Jan.1, 1992, through Dec. 31, 1993, are eligible.

Dungeness Golf hosts men’s memorial

scramble

The 2008 Dungeness Men’s Club memorial scramble is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. start, Oct. 15 at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Players must be members of the men’s club to enter.

Cost is $25; fee includes lunch, KPs and prizes but not greens fees.

The club’s annual meeting follows the scramble.

Registration closes Oct. 10.

Football booster tourney Oct. 11 at SunLand

The Sequim Football Booster Club hosts a four-person scramble at 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at SunLand Golf Course, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim.

Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team; fee includes drinks, greens fees and caddies – members of the Sequim High football team. Carts are available for $10 each.

Tourney organizers are seeking sponsors for holes, products, gift certificates and more.
