North Pole volleyball tournament set
Port Angeles High School (304 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles) is the site for the North Pole holiday volleyball tournament, starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5.
Format is coed sixes.
Entry fee is $120 per team.
Members from the championship team receive
T-shirts.

Turkey Trot set for Thanksgiving
The 5K Turkey Trot run/walk, set for Thursday, Nov. 25, begins at 9 a.m. at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and is $10 per person.
Awards go to top finishers in men’s and women’s divisions.
There are two water stations along the route.

P.C. women split in Vancouver
Peninsula College’s women basketball squad went 1-1 at the Igloo Invitational at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash., last week.
Peninsula opened with a 71-56 loss at Blue Mountain Community College. Freshman Megan Smith scored 24 points while fellow frosh Callie Monfrey added 11 points.
“We were a little jittery and could not quite hang on,” P.C. coach Ali Crumb said.
In the second game, the Pirates rebounded with a 58-50 win against Clark College alumni players, making up a 10-point deficit in the second half. Smith had 19 points, Monfrey had 17 points and Shawna Thein, another freshman, added 18 points and five assists.
