Home Depot hosts the company’s signature Sprint Cup car, the No. 20 car driven by Joey Logano, at the Sequim store at 1145 W. Washington St. from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1. Stingers seek baseball players
The Bremerton Stingers Baseball Club, an organization with baseball teams for players in several youth age divisions, host tryouts for teams in August.
The tryouts are 6-8 p.m. Aug. 17-19 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton.
Players are required to attend a minimum of two tryout sessions to be considered for a team. Players must check in with a parent and have a copy of player’s certified birth certificate; check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. each day. The Stingers field five teams next season in age divisions 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U and 17-18U.
The Stingers have ball players from Sequim, Chimacum and Port Angeles on teams now. For more information, see www.stingersbase ballclub.org.
Price, Sutton win at ‘Grant’s Bash’
On Monday, July 5, Grant Ritter and fellow Cedars at Dungeness Men’s Club members played in the second "Grant’s Birthday Bash." John Price won low gross with a round of 77 while Mike
Sutton won low net with a 64.
Sequim senior
softballers get sweep
In Peninsula Senior Softball action on July 14, Sequim 7 Cedars/Oasis Sports Bar swept a doubleheader from Port Angeles by scores of 13-9 and 16-6. The Sequim team is in first place of the Peninsula Senior Softball League with a record of 7-2, followed by Port Angeles (4-4), Port Townsend (4-3) and Bremerton (1-7).
Golf tourney aids health care providers
The Peninsula Prostate Institute’s 2010 Golf Classic is scheduled for an 8 a.m. tee-off time on Sunday, July 25, at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston.
Cost is $125 per individual or $500 for a foursome. Fee includes 18 holes of golf, polo shirt, prizes and lunch.
Proceeds from the tourney benefit the Peninsula Cancer Center lifeline; some of those funds benefit the Olympic Medical Center patient navigator program.

Gymnastics group offers summer camp
The Port Angeles-based Klahhane Gymnastics has openings available for Fun & Fit Gymnastics Camps for youths in grades 1-5 July 27-29.
The camp meets 12:30-3 p.m. Instruction is provided in all gymnastics events along with fun fitness games and activities. A healthy snack is provided.
Cost is $60 for Klahhane members or $70 for new students. All abilities welcome and no previous gymnastics experience is necessary.
Registration deadline is 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 22.
Jacobsen gets fourth ace
Tom Jacobsen of Port Angeles sank his fourth hole-in-one, scoring the ace on hole No. 8 at The Cedars at Dungeness on July 11.
Jacobsen used a 6-iron to drive the 134-yard hole.
John Sims and Jay Tomlin of Sequim and Keith Harper of Port Townsend witnessed the feat.
‘Dawg’ volleyball camp set
Bill Neville, former coach for the USA gold medal-winning men’s volleyball team, is the featured guest at the annual Junkyard Dawg Volleyball Camp.
The camp is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 28-31 at the Sequim High School gymnasium, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
The camp is open to girls entering grades 7-12 this fall who want to learn volleyball or improve their skills.
The $240 fee includes a camp shirt and a player handbook.

Cross country team washes cars for funds
The Sequim High School Cross Country team hosts a car wash from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, in the parking lot near Tarcisio’s Italian Place, 609 W. Washington St.
Donations help team members earn money towards their annual trip to Seaside, Ore., for the Three-Course Challenge. For more information, call 683-7944.
