Hoops tourney slated

The Port Angeles Recreation Department hosts the Talking Rain Sparkling Water Tipoff men’s basketball tourney, scheduled for Oct. 30-31.

The event features four-game guarantee.

Entry fee is $235 per team.

Anglers talk net, pot removal

The Puget Sound Anglers, North Olympic Peninsula Chapter, feature a presentation at the group’s October meeting by Jeff June, field manager of the Derelict Fishing Gear Project for the Northwest Straits Initiative. June plans to provide an update of the accomplishments of the initiative derelict net and pot removal program in Washington and a look at future aspects of the program.

The meeting is schedule for 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave.

Local team takes volleyball tourney

Team Got Crab, featuring teams from Sequim and Port Angeles, took first place in the adult coed 4s division of the Crabfest beach volleyball tournament last weekend.

Team Got Crab members include Eric Palenik of Sequim, plus Port Angeles’ Christine Halberg, Jennifer Reynolds and Jeff Reynolds.

Second place went to Team Crabbie Patties, including Sean Oden and Michelle Burley of Bremerton and Eric Kuzma and Chrissy Dunlap of Port Townsend.

The tournament was a fundraiser for Port Angeles High School volleyball.

Port Angeles BMX to help with food drive

The Port Angeles BMX track’s final weekend of racing is Oct. 23-24.

On Oct. 23, racing is capped off by a potluck. On Oct. 24, the track is home to a food drive; racers who bring 10 cans ride for free.
