Angler group hosts hatchery specialist

The Puget Sound Anglers’ North Olympic Peninsula Chapter hosts local fish hatchery specialist Dan Witczak at their next meeting, 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.

Holiday hoops set for weekend

The Port Angeles Recreation Department hosts the Holiday Hoops Tourney on Dec. 11-12.

The tournament features divisions for boys and girls basketball teams grades 5-8.

Cost is $235 per team and guarantees teams at least four games.

Network helps ski buffs to mountains

The Olympic Peninsula Ski Network, a self-described “loose-knit group” of locals who make weekday carpool trips to the Cascade-area ski resorts for snow activities, begins meeting this month.

 Organizational meetings are being held at public libraries. A Sequim Library meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Pinger gets second ace

Wayne Pinger of Sequim got his second lifetime hole-in-one, acing the eighth hole at The Cedars at Dungeness on Dec. 1. Pinger used a pitching wedge to drive the hole’s 115 yards. Mike O’Brien and Ivan Sorensen witnessed the feat.

SkyRidge hosts pre-Christmas tourney

Saturday, Dec. 11 is the date for the Pre-Christmas 27-Hole Tournament at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim.

The event (barring frost) begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration is open to the first 28 two-person teams.

Cost is $80 per team. Fee includes range, balls, food and more. Additional honey pots are $20 and power carts are $15 per seat.
