360 Sports biz to host April 10 sports clinic

On April 10, 360 Sports Performance Training and Base by pros are partnering up with Sequim High School varsity baseball and softball teams to bring a unique clinic to all Olympic Peninsula players ages 9-14.

Former pro Brent Lillibridge and Ashley Charters will walk youths through fundamentals and drill, and discuss character attributes necessary to advancing in sports, academics and life. They work with the high school varsity athletes from 10-11:30 a.m.

The pros, high school players and coaches and 360 Sports staff welcome area youth for a skills camp from noon-1:30 p.m.

All events are at the Sequim High School varsity baseball field. Cost is $40 on the day of the event or $30 by registering online before April 10 at www.360sportspt.com/events.

 

Learn about propane on boats for safety

A free monthly boating skills clinic of the North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron continues on Saturday, April 9. The subject is “Propane Systems and Safety” and is set for 10 a.m.-noon at Sunland Golf Course and Country Club, 135 Fairway Drive.

The clinic is presented by Gordon Bilyard and will familiarize participants with the properties of propane, the components of propane systems on boats, system operation and maintenance, and safety considerations.

Paddlers set meeting

The Olympic Peninsula Paddlers club meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. This month’s presentation is by Dr. Sam Baker, speaking about “Cold Water Immersion” — a key topic for those who spend time on Northwest waters, group representatives say. The public is invited.

Madsen sinks an ace

Buy this guy a lottery ticket: Sequim’s Bob Madsen sank a hole-in-one at SkyRidge Golf Course on April 3, acing the 126-yard hole No. 8 using an 8-iron. Witnesses said that it was beautiful shot that landed just short of the pin and bounced two times before dropping into the hole.

Bobby Kelly, Steve Lee and Robb Reese witnessed the feat.

 

Explorers plan spit trip

The Olympic Peninsula Explorers invite all walkers to their next adventure, set for Saturday, April 9, at the Dungeness Spit. Participants have a choice of a 5-, 10- or 20-kilometer walks.

The event is free unless you wish to get credit from the American Volkssport Association; however, bring a federal parks pass for vehicles in the boundaries of the park. Walkers must register at the QFC store in Sequim (990 B E. Washington St.) between 10:50-11:15 a.m.; maps will be given out at the sign-up. The later start time allows walkers to walk to the lighthouse.

Wagner sinks an ace

Sequim resident Chad Wagner sank his third lifetime hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness.

Wagner used a driver to ace the par-4, 302 yard hole No. 13.

Denise and Gary Kettel, both of Sequim, witnessed the feat.
