SkyRidge hosts winter scramble

SkyRidge Golf Course hosts its Winter Time Open Three-Person Scramble, set for a 9:30 a.m. start Saturday, Jan. 9, at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim.

Costs are $90 per team with a 24-team maximum. Power carts are $12 per seat and optional honey pots are $20 per team.

Pickleball club helps youths

Under the direction of Ben Sanders, the Sequim Picklers group hosted a a clinic for 21 children and youths at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club on Dec. 28. Picklers assisting with this clinic were club president Doug Hastings and daughters Kendall and McKenna, with Richard Cary, Sandi Gunn and Jan Tatom.

By summer, the Picklers hope to start a small youth league and look forward to future activities with the Boys & Girls Club.

 

Club fundraiser set

A fundraiser for Klahahne Gymnastics is set for 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Port Angeles McDonald’s, 1706 E. Front St. A portion of all proceeds go to the gymnastics in support of its athletes.


Little League sets meeting, opportunities

The Sequim Little League is hosting a volunteer opportunity/board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the league clubhouse, 136 W. Silberhorn Road. The board has some remaining board positions to fill along with leadership and committee positions.

Paddlers hear bird talk

The Olympic Peninsula Paddlers club meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 380 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. This month’s presentation “Water Birds of the Strait and Sound” will be given by Bob Boekelheide, former director of the Dungeness River Audubon Center.

Youth hoops tourney set

Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department hosts the 20th-annual Martin Luther King Classic youth basketball tournament, Jan. 16-17. The tourney has divisions for boys and girls teams for players in grades 4-8. Cost is $250 per team and there is a four-game guarantee.

Roller derby team puts on fundraiser

The Port Scandalous Roller Derby team hosts a Bowler Derby fundraiser at Laurel Lanes, 108 W. Eighth St., Port Angeles, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16. Cost is $25 per person (or $100 per team) with four players per lane. Fee includes shoe rental, pizza, beverages and prizes.

The Port Scandalous club hosts practices from 8-10 p.m. each Wednesday at the Clallam County YMCA, 302 S. Francis St., Port Angeles. No experience required.
