Jacobsen tees it up at junior tourney

Sequim High School sophomore-to-be Paul Jacobsen played well at a U.S. Junior Amateur Championship Qualifier at The Classic Golf Club in Spanaway this June, the Peninsula Daily News reports.

Jacobsen shot a 4-over-par 76 to finish five strokes out of first place and three shots out of a playoff for the Northwest’s final two spots at the 2017 U.S. Junior Amateur at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kan.

Jacobsen placed 37th at the class 2A state tournament as a freshman this spring, shooting rounds of 83 and 85.

Port Angeles hosting coed softball league

The Port Angeles Parks &Recreation Department hosts a coed softball league this summer, with the season beginning July 24. Games are at Shane Field and Elks Field in Port Angeles.

Cost is $650 per team. Individuals may sign up and be put on a “free agent” list.
