Wolves named to all-league lists

Four Sequim High girls basketball players were named to the all Olympic League team following announcement of prep postseason honors this week.

Senior Jayla Julmist, who averaged a double-double, was named to the all-league first team while fellow senior teammates Kalli Wiker and Melissa Porter and sophomore Jelissa Julmist, Jayla’s sister, were named to the second team. Hannah Bates was selected for the team’s sportsmanship award.

Millie Long of Port Angeles was named the league’s MVP and PA’s Michael Poindexter was named coach of the year.

On the boys’ side, SHS senior Erik Christiansen was named to the all-Olympic League second team and also earned the team’s sportsmanship award.

Jonas La Tour of North Kitsap was named league MP while Port Angeles’ Kasey Ulin took home the coach of the year award.

Golf tourney to benefit Captain Joseph House

The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road, hosts the third-annual Captain Joseph House Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 19.

The scramble-format tourney costs $90 per golfer and includes green fees, cart, range balls and a $10 food voucher. The tourney begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Prizes total $25,000 and includes a 2021 Chevy Spark hole-in-one prize courtesy of Ruddell Auto Mall.

All proceeds go to Captain Joseph House, which offers respite and support for families who have lost loved ones in military actions.

Open house, race set at BMX park

Lincoln Park BMX hosts a free open house and race from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. Never tried BMX before? New riders and parents are invited to the open house, learn about the sport, bikes and the track, and racing with a free race afterward. There will be bikes and helmet to use for those who don’t have them.

Participants must sign a one-day trial form at usabmx.com/site/sections/360; select Lincoln Park BMX in the drop-down menu.

In-person signups for racing afterward is set for 5-6 p.m.

Wrestling champ camp set at SHS

Two-time NCAA Champion wrestler Gene Mills will lead a wrestling camp at the Sequim High School wrestling room July 26-29.

Registration is $200 per wrestler, due by June 30. Checks can be sent to: Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim, WA 98382.

Bear helps Wilder Sr. crush Kitsap in sweep

Wilder Sr. continued to dominate the Kitsap Rebels with a sweep on June 12 by scores of 19-2 and 9-5. In the first game, Sequim’s Connor Bear went 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored, an RBI and a walk.
