Sign up for coed soccer

Sequim FC’s 3-on-3 coed soccer league is set to start July 5. The season runs for six weeks, with 12 games per team. Games are played Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. The league features two age groups: 16-35 and 35+.

Cost is $125 per team or $35 for individuals (league officials will place individuals on teams).

Sunland captains in the spotlight

Sunland Golf and Country Club held its annual Past Captain’s Golf Tournament and Luncheon on June 9, with 13 past captains in attendance. They included Sherry Meythaler (2012), Linda Beatty (1998), Shirley Mullikin (2010), Cheryl Coulter (2003, 2015, current), Mary Jo Camagna (2002) and Judy Nordyke (2013, 2014), Pat Beltz (1999), Nonie Dunphy (1992), Dorothy Plenert (1991), Kit Nill (1982), Dana Burback (2009) and Nancy Harlan (2011).

Dorene Berard, Sherry Meythaler and Nadia Saulsbury teamed up to win the day’s tourney — “Cha Cha Cha” — while Cecil Black, Linda Collet and Nan Godfrey took second.

 

‘Stars, Stripes’ tourney set at SkyRidge Golf Course

SkyRidge Golf Course hosts its Stars and Stripes tournament on Saturday, July 2. The tourney begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. Format is two-person, 27-hole play with three formats: better ball, scramble and alternate shot. Spots are available for the first 28 teams to sign up. Cost is $80 per team, paying for play, range balls and food. Extra honey pots are $20 per person.

Slowpitch league forming

Port Angeles Parks & Recreation hosts an adult coed slowpitch softball league, with games starting the week of July 8.

Games are played at Shane Park. Cost is $415 per team plus individual fees ($28 for Port Angeles city residents, $42 for non-residents).

Team packets are available at the Parks & Recreation office, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. Players without a team can call and be put on a “free agent” list. Deadline to register is July 12.

Soccer is theme of storytime in Port Angeles

Get ready to move at a soccer-themed storytime with the Peninsula College soccer team at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Participants ages 3-5 will be treated to stories about soccer, learn some rhymes as well as a few basic soccer moves at this event, part of the annual summer reading program at the North Olympic Library System. Call 417-8500 ext. 7705 or send an email to youth@nols.org.
